Maeve Mulrennan has been the Head of Visual Arts in Galway Arts Centre since 2006. She also co-programmes the children and young peoples programme for Cúirt International Festival of Literature and in 2017 she curated the full festival programme. She also lectures in curation, education policy and visual art as part of the MA in Arts Policy & Practice, NUI Galway. She has had several short stories published and is currently working on a collection with Doire Press. She holds a BA in Fine Art (Painting) from Limerick School of Art & Design, h.Dip. Arts Administration from NUI Galway, MA Visual Arts Practices (Curating) from IADT Dún Laoghaire and a BA Arts (English, Sociology & Politics) from NUI Galway. She was a co-founder of Engage Art Studios in 2004 and wa on the Board of TULCA Festival of Visual Art from 2006 to 2017.
Galway Arts Centre works with Irish and international artists at formative points in their careers through curated solo and group exhibitions. GAC is currently developing its 2020 programme. While specific themes or areas of interest are not being sought, the gallery is looking for visual artists that want to create new, ambitious work with the context of the gallery in mind.
