Forty-seven arts organisations across Northern Ireland are set to benefit from almost £1.2million of Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery funding, to bring a series of high-quality arts projects to people across the region.
The funding will be used by groups to support the development and creation of events, exhibitions, performances and workshops across all areas of the arts, including community arts, literature, visual arts, music and theatre.
In a press release the Arts Council NI stated that the relative decline in National Lottery funding over recent years has meant that, consequently, the demand for the annual National Lottery Project Fund exceeded the available resources – the Arts Council was simply unable to fund all eligible work.
This year the Arts Council received 61 applications requesting over £2.25M and unfortunately not all applicants could be funded. Among the 47 successful applicants offered National Lottery Project Funding in 2018-19 were:
- Bbeyond
- Belfast Photo Festival
- Cathedral Quarter Trust
- New Lodge Arts
- Outburst Arts Festival
- PS2, Belfast
- PLACE NI
- R-Space Gallery in Lisburn
